Good Vibes, Healers and Forgiveness in the Field of Spirituality

How many times have you seen the mantra, “good vibes only,” and heard that you need to forgive those who have caused you harm? But when you still feel anger or hurt no matter how many times you’ve tried to forgive and move on, do you think, “I am definitely not doing this right. I am not on the right path.”
In this “high vibe” culture, many people are afraid to hold space for what feels too messy or difficult. It’s more common for people to offer advice or platitudes than to just be present with someone in the midst of their tears and pain. It’s easier to want to shift your vibration quickly by numbing yourself with substances, food, relationships, forced smiles and healers.
This is called spiritual bypassing––the act of forced practices to override what you would rather not face. There are some gifted, authentic healers out there, but they can only help once you are in a state that allows for healing to occur. They are facilitators, not magicians, so you must do your part for anything to work. It’s important to also keep in mind that healers and teachers are human and fall off their own paths too. No one is in constant alignment.
It is vital to release any negative self-talk or victim mentality and embrace your dark shadow. Take all the time you need to process both the pain and grief. Forgive others only when you feel ready. Transformation is a solo journey, and you alone know how to raise your own vibration.
