Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine Opens Campus in Bradenton

Mar 31, 2023 06:16PM ● By Janet Lindsay

Based in Gainesville, the Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine (DRCOM) announces the opening of its new campus set in the heart of Florida’s Suncoast region. The two-story building in Bradenton, purchased in December 2022, was fully renovated to meet the technological and specialized needs for advanced students, faculty and staff.

The college worked with a team of local professionals to set up the 16,000-square foot facility for the start of the summer term 2023. Classes are scheduled to begin May 1 for the 10-semester graduate program, during which students can earn two degrees—a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Masters of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine.

Students will be qualified to take the national certification board exams, then apply for licensure to become Primary Healthcare Providers in Florida. The DRCOM program is fully accredited by ACAHM (Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine) and the Florida Department of Education-Commission for Independent Education (license #2425). All federal financial aid and veterans’ benefits are accepted.

The Dr. Leon Hammer Acupuncture Clinic is integral to the onsite learning environment. Dr. Hammer developed a unique system of Pulse Diagnosis, a vital tool in his Contemporary Oriental Medicine taught and practiced at Dragon Rises College. Fully staffed and supervised by licensed acupuncture physicians, the clinic will offer reasonable rates to the public for acupuncture treatments.

A thorough pulse examination and diagnosis to guide intervention is included in this program. Practitioners use a wide range of all major treatment modalities within Chinese Medicine including acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, Tiuna (Tui Na), Gua Sha, therapeutic massage, and lifestyle and nutrition consultation. The clinic maintains its teaching Herbal Pharmacy to dispense a variety of medicines, teas, tinctures, salves and poultices.
