Have you heard of The George, a bohemian and artistic boutique on the second floor of 1960 Main Street? Recently, this stop relocated from the North Trail area to downtown Sarasota, where many visitors are starting to discover its funky charm, but who is “George,” and what inspired owner Camilla Reid to choose this name?  

Camilla comes from a line of British navigators and inventors who sought to explore the world. As a graduate of Ringling College of Art, she has also worked as a graphic designer, fashion illustrator, and social worker. This combination of adventurous roots and creative ingenuity led to The George’s eclectic, international flair with its unique selection of natural clothing, jewelry, artistic pieces, and vintage trinkets. 

As far as the name goes, Camilla loves collecting historic artifacts, and she once came across an old pub sign that said, “The George,” from a vintage store. To Camilla, this artifact served as a reminder of her lineage and continuous passion to discover more of herself and others. You will feel that energy in her store.
