Senior Friendship Centers Host 20th Annual Caregivers Forum
Senior Friendship Centers (SFC) invite caregivers to the 20th Annual Caregivers Forum on February 6, at the Harvest House Venue in Sarasota. This event is open to anyone who cares for a senior facing a new diagnosis, chronic illness, dementia, or complications of aging.
The annual retreat includes a keynote by internal medicine physician Derrick DeSilva, Jr. His presentation will focus on caregiver wellness and practical strategies to reinforce caregivers’ mental and physical resilience.
The first panel discussion, hosted by SFC President and CEO Erin McLeod, will feature Maricela Morado, President and CEO of the Area Agency on Aging of Southwest Florida; Sue Berger, Aging System Coordinator for Sarasota; and Jenny Macias, SFC Director of Innovative Programs. The second panel and Q&A session will feature senior service specialists, hosted by Samantha Hersch, publisher of Seniors Bluebook.
This panel will also host Paula Falk, former Director of SFC’s Caregiving Place Adult Daycare and Caregivers Resource Center’ Pam Polowski, Dementia Practitioner and Trainer; Dr. Par Reed, SMH Psychiatrist; and Debbie Frank, full-time caregiver.
Attendees can also enjoy breakfast, networking, and access to community senior service resource booths. Tickets cost $25, and are available for purchase online.
