Natural Awakenings Sarasota / Manatee / Charlotte

Letter From Publisher July 2026

July has arrived here on the Florida Suncoast, which means it’s time for coastal recreation, poolside relaxation, and countless opportunities to nourish our well-being in nature’s backyard. Our theme for this issue of Natural Awakenings, “Good Vibes, Great Outdoors,” is a celebration of all the joy that summer brings—from vibrant farmers markets to leisurely beach strolls and everything in between. So let’s dive into what it means to embrace a balanced, inspired lifestyle while making the most of this radiant season.

As usual, let’s begin with this month’s feature story, “Wellness Without Walls: Outdoor Connections for Body and Spirit.” The outdoor wellness movement is building momentum, thanks to its powerful benefits for emotional balance, physical health, and social connection. Whether it’s a bike ride on the coast or a yoga session in the park, this article reinforces the deep restoration that’s available when we unplug from screens and reconnect with the natural world through mindfulness, movement, and community experiences.

Next, we’ll jump into “Conscious Eating,” which celebrates both the vibrance and versatility of summer salads. In this article, you’ll learn how to build a refreshing, hydrating, nourishing salad with seasonal produce, whole grains, and healthy fats. You’ll also discover how to source local ingredients, experiment with unique flavor and texture combinations, and turn creative salads into nutritious meals, along with a few recipes to test out this summer.

We can’t talk about summer without mentioning fun in the sun, and our “Fit Body” article makes the compelling case for pickleball as a source of both exercise and enjoyment. In recent years, pickleball has become one of America’s favorite recreational pastimes, and it’s not hard to see why. This article touches on the sport’s wide variety of wellness benefits—from increased range-of-motion and joint stability to cardiovascular endurance and muscle strength. With its low-impact nature and easy learning curve, pickleball is an accessible way for folks of all ages to maintain an active lifestyle all season long.

That’s it from me this month, but we are just scratching the surface of all the inspiration waiting for you inside. As always, I want to offer my sincere gratitude to this beautiful community for joining us in our exploration of “wellness made easy” throughout 2026. I will see you back here in August as we continue the journey and make new discoveries.
