A Spiritual Practice and Sense of Belonging Can Support Mental Health

Spiritual practice is one of the primary coping mechanisms for many people, and as humans, we have a fundamental motivation to form and maintain bonds with others. Likewise, a sense of belonging is also essential to our physical and mental well-being.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Charlotte County is a community of individuals who offer a community where seekers of justice, love and compassion can follow their spiritual path in fellowship with others. Unitarian Universalists have an expression that says, “Love is the spirit of this fellowship, and service is its law. This is our aspiration: to dwell together in peace, to seek truth in love, and to help one another.”

One way that we help one another is through spiritual practice. To this end, we offer Buddhist meditation, Sunday morning worship, community fellowship, music and inspirational presentations. Unitarian Universalism is a covenantal faith. We are a body of individuals who pledge to walk together in the spirit of mutual love.

Our principles are shared values that guide us, but we yield religious authority to each person’s own understanding, then we do our best to figure them out and learn together. Bring your whole self: your full identity, your questioning mind and your expansive heart to our Sunday morning worship service at 10:30 a.m.

Location: 1532 Forrest Nelson Rd., Port Charlotte. For more information, visit UUFCC.org.
