It’s a challenge to function within a healthcare system that prescribes medication for just about any kind of symptom, but does not seem to have an answer for the root cause of a person’s suffering? Jerry Fulwider, Jr., knows how it feels like to slip through those cracks. As a former Navy Fleet Marine Force Corpsman, corporate chef, and lifelong student of human biology, Fulwider is currently pursuing a doctorate in Alternative Medicine.

Fulwider absolutely believes that conventional medicine has a place in healthcare, but somewhere along the line, too many folks became numbers in a system driven by appointments, insurance billing codes, or an endless cycle of prescriptions. Fulwider is on a mission to serve the person who still does not feel better—the veteran quietly dealing with PTSD, the woman being told her exhaustion is just a part of life, the man whose brain fog has stolen his confidence, or the family who has spent thousands of dollars searching for answers. 

When Fulwider and his wife purchased Natural Apothecary Shoppe in Sarasota, they embraced an opportunity to offer the local community evidence-informed natural medicine, nutritional science, nootropics, and a systems-based understanding of human biology.
