Senior Friendship Centers Hosts “Aging Proudly” Wellness Series for LGBTQ+ Adults

Growing older can bring new health challenges for anyone. But for LGBTQ+ older adults, decades of stigma and social isolation can create additional barriers to finding trusted healthcare and community support. A new monthly series from Senior Friendship Centers is designed to bridge those gaps through candid conversations and connections to community resources.

The series is underwritten by the Susan Terry Foundation and partners with Project Pride SRQ and CAN Community Health. The Older Adult Access & HIV Prevention initiative was created to help LGBTQ+ adults connect with affirming healthcare providers, HIV prevention education, navigation assistance, and community resources.

“Aging Proudly: A Wellness & Resource Series for Older Adults” is bringing together healthcare professionals and community partners for conversations about sexual wellness. Programs are free and open to everyone. Join us for this series, starting November 19, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Friendship Centers Sarasota Activity Center in Sarasota.

Location: Senior Friendship Centers Sarasota Activity Center, 1888 Brother Geenen Way, Sarasota. For registration, visit https://friendshipcenters.org/special-events/ . For more information about Senior Friendship Centers, call 941-955-2122.
